Exciting News: Expanding Clean Energy Access in Tuaefu and Ululoloa!

We're thrilled to announce that the Afioaga Tuaefu ma Ululoloa has submitted a funding proposal to the Samoa Emissions Reduction Program (Samoa ERP) to expand our successful biogas initiative! Building on our previous success with 5 HomeBiogas 4.0 units installed under the UNDP Small Grants Program in 2022, we're now seeking support to install 17 additional units in our community.
This three-year project, supported by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and managed by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, aims to provide clean, renewable energy solutions for our community members while reducing our environmental impact.
Project Highlights:
Installation of 15 new HomeBiogas 4.0 systems
Comprehensive training for all participating households
Production of clean cooking fuel and organic fertilizer
Reduced reliance on firewood and expensive LPG
Expected project completion timeline: 6-8 months after funding approval
The project will particularly benefit our community by:
Lowering household energy costs
Improving air quality and health outcomes
Supporting local agricultural productivity through organic fertilizer production
Creating opportunities for skills development and capacity building
Contributing to Samoa's renewable energy and emissions reduction goals
Total project investment: WST 105,600, with WST 100,000 requested from the Samoa ERP and WST 5,600 as community contribution.
We extend our gratitude to our supporting partners and look forward to creating a cleaner, more sustainable future for Tuaefu and Ululoloa. Stay tuned for updates as we progress through the approval process!
